I don’t think you’re gonna get any funds for this but good luck
this is the wrong website, I’m sorry OP I know you’re probably gonna get hate mail for this.
Sad but true.
I’m a bit more optimistic. I hope it gets the funding, this is definitely something that needs research.
What these comments tell me is that Tumblr is full of people who think that these facts are second rate because they are about men. Let that sink in.
Hell don’t send hate to the OP, send it to me because if you’re the type of person that totally disregards these statements then I highly doubt you have a very good argument outside of OH WELL PEOPLE THAT REPRESENT ME HAVE IT WORSE.
It is very worth mentioning that the person who started this project is a woman and, before this film, created a film called “Miss Representation” about how media contributes to the under-representation of women.
Yeah seriously. The cultural emotional repression of boys is what causes a lot of problems for women, too, you know. Society holds masculinity as the ultimate valuable trait and masculinity as it is now demonizes all that is believed to be feminine. If we stop demonizing femininity in boys, we stop demonizing women.
There needs to be a code word or something that means “my brain is fighting me every step of the way today and I feel like I’m going to vibrate out of my skin, so I need you to forgive everything and go slowly and speak softly and lower your expectations.” And then we could all just be like, “I know I said we could go to a movie tonight but… tangerines.” And the other person would nod and squeeze your elbow or rub your head and you wouldn’t feel like a failure.
It bugs me when people are unnecessarily mean. Like, you didn’t have to make that comment. You could have just kept your mouth shut and left that person not feeling bad about themselves. What do you gain from making someone else feel like shit? Nothing of substance. Maybe a fleeting moment of power but that’s gone as soon as it comes so why? There’s enough unhappiness in the world without you adding to it.
